Corporal Lim's Response

As seen by earlier posts, comments by the residents of Vic Street, Cpl Lim stepped up to the community providing his thoughts on these vandalism cases. “Vandalism as it is is a real offence which can be subjected to jail terms and also fines up to $500. Residents should not be afraid of reporting these cases as identities will strictly be confidential. When asked for tips to deal with vandalism cases, Cpl Lim gave a few suggestions of his own.

  • Report of the vandalism case straight away
  • Take a good look of the suspects as features will be a good help.
  • Always be in groups when walking in the night as culprits will be afraid of large groups of people.
  • Do not handle the situation yourself.

3 cars have been vandalized in the past week causing a lot of the residents worrying about whether their neighbourhood has become a dangerous place to live in.


According to Ms Vejaya, one of Vic Streets longest resident says that, “Vic Street is not the old Vic Street it used to be”. Ms Vejaya was also one of the people who sighted incidents of vandalism in the neighbourhood.This is not the first time vandalism cases have been reported. One resident, who only wanted to be named as Mr Tan said, “This is not the first time it happened”. Several accounts of vandalism have been made known but none were reported directly to the police or any other bodies. When asked why none of the cases were reported, Ms Vejaya said, “I’m scared to report because they might come find us”. These incidents were done by incidentally same number groups of people which is believed to be the same group of people that has been related to these vandalism cases. Cases such as graffiti paintings on walls and car related cases were also found in the vicinity of Vic Street.
